چکیده

Background: Sub-acromial impingement syndrome (SAIS) is the most common disorder of shoulder. Conservative treatment is the first choice, often with corticosteroid injection or different physiotherapy interventions, or both. So we aimed to assess the mean reduction in shoulder pain and disability index (SPADI) score after administration of sub-acromial corticosteroid injections for management of SAIS. Objectives: To determine the mean reduction in SPADI score after administration of Sub-acromial corticoDate of Submission 10-11-2015 Date of Revision Received 19-1-2016 Date of Acceptance for Publication 13-4-2016 Conflict of Interest: None Funding Source: None Karim K. Material and Methods: The Quasi – experimental study was conducted in Department of Orthopedic Surgery, Mayo Hospital Lahore from November 2013 to august 2014. 150 cases were enrolled in this study. Then baseline SPADI score was noted. Patients were injected with sub-acromial injections of 40 mg triamcinolone acetonide mixed with 4.5 ml of 2% lignocaine under aseptic measures. All patients did exercises, consisting of pendulum and range of motion under care of physiotherapist. Each patient was followed-up in OPD for assessment of shoulder function according to SPADI score at 1, 3 and 6 weeks after administration of injection. The result was analyzed by using SP-

Does arthroscopic sub-acromial decompression really work for sub-acromial impingement syndrome: a cohort study

BACKGROUND Health Economists in Denmark have reported poor outcomes and low and delayed return to work for patients treated for Sub-Acromial Impingement syndrome (SAIS) by Arthroscopic Sub-Acromial Decompression (ASAD). In this setting it is important to evaluate outcomes following this commonly performed operation to justify undertaking it on our patients. The purpose of the study was to evalu...

Unusual lesions mimicking impingement syndrome in the shoulder joint - Think medially

Impingement syndrome is usually caused by irritation of the rotator cuff within the sub acromial space and this includes the coraco-acromial arch (Acromion and Coraco-acromial ligament), the acromio-clavicular joint and occasionally the coracoid. Iatrogenic causes such as sutures, pins, plates or wires left from previous surgery can cause similar symptoms. We present a series of four cases mimi...

Title : The Effects of a Posture Shirt on Throwing Velocity , Throwing Accuracy and Blood Flow in Professional Baseball Pitchers : A Pilot Study

Soft tissue impingement of the shoulder occurs in two critical areas; the subacromial space and coracohumeral space, areas often associated with shoulder dysfunction, pain and injury. Impingement has been described in several different anatomic locations and can be affected by gleno-humeral positioning. Sub-acromial and sub-coracoid impingement have been described as possible sources of pain an...
